About us

We have been handcrafting items from New Zealand native timbers for over twenty five years, with our work being sold throughout New Zealand by galleries and shops specialising in supplying the overseas visitor market to New Zealand.

Our work has gone all over the world and we have a reputation, of which we are justifiably proud, for the high quality of our workmanship.

The New Zealand forest is a production of nature found in no other land. We work with a range of nineteen of our native timbers, using the different colours and grains to produce the finished designs of the items we craft.  The use of these timbers in our products make them unique.

Wood has always been an important part of human existence. Today the timbers of our native forests are a treasured national resource and are protected by law, with milling only allowed under a strictly enforced sustainable management regime.  In creating works of art from each small piece of wood used, the craftsperson places a true value on our forest heritage.

As a result of the effects of the Covid-19 shutdown of the New Zealand border and economy our business will be closing down.

We will therefore be offering for sale our workshop machinery and our stocks of native timbers.  These can be purchased either as one lot or individually.

The sale of our machinery presents an opportunity for someone looking to set up their own business while the sale of our native timber stocks represent an opportunity to purchase some native timbers which are now rarely available in quantity.

For further information please contact Ian Cragg on 0274 300 267 or sales@timberarts.co.nz

Please note: We still have stocks of completed items which are available for sale.  If the item is displayed in our online shop it is still available for purchase.
